Fred Valerino, Sr.
Founder & Chairman (1978 – 2019)
Born in Syracuse, N.Y., in 1926, Fred Valerino, Sr. was hired after college by the Lamson Corporation, an early pioneer of pneumatic tube systems. Fred, along with his wife Teresa and children, relocated with the company to Baltimore in 1958.
Diebold, a banking security company, acquired Lamson soon after, and Fred rose to the top of their healthcare sales division. When Diebold eliminated its healthcare division, Fred decided to start his own company. Pevco was founded in 1978.
His son Fred Valerino, Jr. took over the general operation of the business in the 1990s, freeing up Fred Sr. to focus on his passions: interacting with employees and customers, and developing more than a dozen U.S. patents associated with automation for the healthcare industry. Fred Valerino, Sr. passed away in November 2019. Today, numerous family members work for Pevco, carrying on his legacy.
