Electronics Technician – Baltimore, MD

The Electronics Technician is primarily responsible for the engineering, set up, and maintenance of electronic systems and equipment used in conjunction with pneumatic tube transport systems in health care facilities. Ideal candidates will possess organization skills, be self-motivated, dependable, innovative and have excellent attention to detail while working and communicating clearly in a team environment or small lab setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Engineering and prototyping of electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Troubleshooting and testing of electronics at PCB level
  • Testing and calibration of completed units to ensure parts and mechanisms meet product specifications
  • Bench and fixture testing; testing and validation of assemblies
  • Preparing materials for testing, collecting, and organizing test data
  • Creating test plans and protocols for engineering development and manufacturing
  • Manufacturing support for equipment changeovers and product release to manufacturing
  • Locate, source and validate product components and materials
  • Write product support documentation, including self-teaching tutorials and troubleshooting guides
  • Assist customer support personnel with remote troubleshooting of system problems
  • Travel to customer sites to support new product introductions and troubleshoot problems
  • Additional tasks as assigned
  • Occasional travel

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Familiar with bench testing, including data recording
  • Soldering experience with surface mount (SMT) and through-hole components on printed circuit board and flex circuit assemblies
  • Experience testing, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining electronic assemblies
  • Experience de-soldering and reworking electronic assemblies
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, including mechanical assembly drawings, electrical schematics, interconnect drawings and wiring diagrams
  • Must have solid mechanical aptitude
  • Understands the use of essential measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges)
  • Understands the use of oscilloscopes, voltmeter, and other electronic diagnostic equipment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with customers and a variety of team members including senior executives and junior technicians
  • COVID vaccination required

Required Education and Experience

AA in Electronics Technology with 10 years of practical experience or BS in Electrical Engineering with minimum 4 years of experience in similar role
